Providing Help at Home

For individuals living independently or at home with family, community living support can provide help with accessing community resources; learning about community activities; and developing skills such as home maintenance, cooking, and budgeting.

About Community Living

Our community living program gives individuals and their families the assistance they need while also helping them gain skills for independence. In comparing community living to other programs or providers, here are some things to consider:

CARF
Learn More About CARF!
  • Community living support can provide help with accessing community resources; learning about community activities; and developing skills such as money management and shopping, home maintenance, cooking and nutrition, personal hygiene, and more.
  • Community living includes the family and friends program, which provides services to families who would like a specific family member or family friend to work with their loved one.
  • We collaborate with other organizations to provide programming such as informational workshops and teen socials to help individuals and families connect with others in a variety of environments.
  • Additional family supports include sibling support groups called Sibshops.
  • When transportation is required, staff use their own vehicles. We check staff driving records upon hire and annually to ensure they maintain a clean driving record. Staff also must provide continuous proof of auto insurance. If an individual requires the use of a lift van, the staff will check out an agency van.
  • All staff are CPR-certified and trained on first aid and dispensing medication. Also, each staff member is trained on each individual’s specific information.
